These are the Five Copper Rings, that few have ever heard of...

From Tolkien's The Lord Of The Rings:

"Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie."

Did you ever notice that Rings in the poem all come in sets of 1, 3, 7 and 9? All the one-digit odd numbers, but somehow have skipped the number 5?

The reason that line is not there, is because the money-hungry publishers of the books left that one "detail" out of Tolkien's famous peom. They're afraid that those who actually make the book, might actually get some ideas of their own.

I have finally discovered the Lost Passage...

"Five Rings for the Peon Workers in their dreary box,
A bit of Magic for you, because your job really sux."

This was an obvious reference to Corporate America, in the Sixth Age (today), when Middle Earth is simply called Earth, and most people work in a "box", all Magic forgotten...

While Sauron was still Sauron the White, he could see well into the future, even into the Sixth Age, and knew that the Peons' lives would become so dismal, that he felt pitty for them!

So much pitty and sadness did he feel for us, that he created the Five Copper Rings, and embued within them all of his of Hope and Happiness. He chose Copper for two reasons. First, because of it's Healing effects. Second, so that those who seek only power and wealth, would not desire them, and they would be protected for only the Peons to use.

Without his Hope and Happiness, Sauron was consumed by the sadness, and went mad. He went on to create those "other" Rings, and we all know how that turned out!

It is now the Sixth Age.
The Elves have sailed on.
The Ents have all become "treeish".
The Hobbits joined the Dwarves, and together, they all have burrowed so far underground, that they no longer believe that the "above ground" even exists, anymore. Which is probably a good thing for them.

But the Trolls and Orcs still do exist, above ground. They can be found, if you look carefully...
A good place to start looking is my last place of employment. It was a call-center, and that company did their best to remove anything that would bring even a little Magic into the lives of their Peons.
In fact, my last boss was actually a Half-Troll! ;)

Now, at long last, I have found the Lost Passage. With it, I have discovered the designs for Sauron the White's Five Copper Rings!
I believe it was the Good Wizard Sauron's intention that I discover them, during a time of great sadness, when many have lost hope. A time when they would be needed most.

So, now I have re-created the Five!
But I have learned from Sauron's mistake, and have imbued in them only so much Hope and Happiness as I could, while still keeping hold of my own Humanity, Hope, and Happiness.

If you would like one of the Five Copper Rings, they are for sale, at very reasonable prices, in my Etsy shop [link] ! I'm sure they would bring you, and yours, a little Hope and Happiness!
They are so... Precious! :D

That description is one of the best I've ever seen on DA. Fantastic bit of imagination to come up with that, I love it.

With regards to the presentation, I'm a fan; the photography looks great, with very nice depth to separate the main details from the more basic ring structure. As a minor nitpick, the concentric circles around each ring vary significantly in line weight, and I think that it would look obviously better if they were standardized at some level.

The rings themselves are quite lovely. I think it's great that you stuck to the theme by making the basic ring shape the same across all five pieces, and then used the primary ring decoration to differentiate the five. The top left and bottom right are a bit out of line with the group given their similarity to one another, but overall as a set I think these look like simple yet very nice work.

I love the rings too--especially the one with the purple bead. :)

Thank you. I like the way the picture came out, and just thought they just needed some kind of back-story. :)
